5-Step Precision Adjustment Method
Step 1: Complete Power Disconnection & Safety Inspection
l Always remove the battery pack—this is the most critical difference from gas-powered chainsaws, ensuring absolute safety.
l Clean the guide bar groove and chain, removing all wood chips and debris.
Step 2: Quick Tension Diagnosis
l Put on gloves. Hold the front handle with one hand, and gently lift the chain under the middle section of the guide bar with the other hand.
l Visual Standard: The chain drive teeth should slightly lift away from the guide bar groove, while the bottom links remain in contact.Tactile Standard: You should feel elastic resistance when lifting—neither fully loose nor completely immovable.
Step 3: Loosen the Locking Knobs
l Turn the top knob counterclockwise to loosen the cover.
l Turn the bottom knob counterclockwise or clockwise to fine-tune chain tension.
Step 4: Adjust the Chain
l Adjust the chain and guide bar until the chain can wiggle slightly, but the drive teeth do not disengage.
l The chain must not be too tight (to avoid excessive friction) or too loose (to prevent the chain from falling off).Once the chain is properly tensioned, turn the top knob clockwise to secure the cover.
Step 5: Post-Adjustment Startup Check
l After tightening the cover, reinsert the battery, start the chainsaw, and let it run for about 1 minute.
l Check that the chainsaw operates smoothly.
l Verify that wood cutting is steady and unobstructed.
Tip: Adjust Immediately When These Signs Appear
l Sawdust becomes fine powder instead of uniform wood chips during cutting
l Chain wobbles noticeably or sags on one side along the guide bar
l You need to push hard for the chain to cut into wood
l Battery drains unusually fast
Ideal Condition: The chain fits tightly against the guide bar groove, yet can be easily lifted at the middle with one finger. There should be a 1–2 mm gap between the drive teeth and the guide bar (approximately the thickness of a credit card). The chain rotates smoothly without resistance or any local tight spots.
